Episode Description:
Dr. Tenma is able to save Johan's life, but Mayor Roedecker dies during surgery under Dr. Boyer who then blames Dr. Tenma's absence for the Mayor's death. Later at a hospital banquet, Dr. Tenma is shocked when Dr. Boyer is appointed to his position as Head of Neurosurgery. Director Heinemann informs him that he has been effectively blacklisted because of his uncooperative attitude, placing his medical ambitions on indefinite hold. To make matters worse, his fiancee Eva Heinemann callously breaks off their engagement, dropping her ring at his feet. The now disgraced Dr. Tenma confesses at the bedside of the apparently unconscious Johan that he wishes Director Heinemann was dead. Meanwhile, Detective Egon Weisbach tries to get Anna Liebert to remember her name and the events of the night her parents died. Director Heinemann suggests to Dr. Boyer and Dr. Oppenheim providing photographs of the Liebert twins to the media, in order to play on public sympathy and garner attention for the hospital. He casually offers the other doctors candy donated to the sick children, and removes Dr. Tenma as Johan's attending physician. Some nights later, a nurse discovers Dr. Oppenheim and Dr. Boyer dead in their offices, while Eva finds her father dead in his study.
