On the submarine, Kanami and Hiyori meet Richard Friedman, Ellen's grandfather and one of the leaders of Mokusa. He reveals that Hiyori's mother helped found the organization, and they first grew suspicious of Yukari when she began making sudden breakthroughs in noro research. Back in Japan, Mai receives a call from Sayaka and goes out to look for her, discovering that Sayaka fled from Yukina...
