Heart of the Undead Fang, her brood, and Jabu return the injured Mira back to the village, with the village doctor assuring the child and dinosaur that Mira's baby is safe. The villagers become terrified of the zombified Spear having made his way to the village and ostracize him before he is chased out of the village. That night during a thunderstorm, Spear attempts to sneak back into the village to check on Mira but is stopped by Fang who alerts the villagers of the zombie's presence. Spear, angry and hurt at Fang's betrayal, is forced to flee again, but the angry villagers give chase, ultimately losing him when Spear falls into a swamp in the jungle. The next day, Mira awakens with an injured leg and discovers many guards posted around the village and learns from Jabu that Spear was chased off. Angry at Fang for betraying Spear and casting him out, Mira heads off into the jungle to search for Spear. Meanwhile, Spear makes his way to a waterfall where he discovers his zombified state through the water's reflection and begins to hallucinate the various rejection and animosity he has faced before he falls off the waterfall into rapids below and is swept away by the current. Fang and her brood follow Mira and attempt to help her track down Spear, but lose his trail by the massive waterfall, leaving Mira in despair. Meanwhile, Spear is washed away into a volcanic region. Memories of the infected Argentinosaurus' death led him to believe he can be destroyed by the volcano and begins his climb. Spear discovers several spears ornamented with skulls before coming across an ash-grey volcanic dweller.
