Since some of the pirates have contracted malaria, Captain Silver Jim sends Dr. to fetch Livesey. He treats the sick as best he can and gets a reward from Captain Silver: he and the others are free with immediate effect and even get their guns back. Silver suggests to Livesey that both groups search for the treasure: whoever finds it first wins the bet.
