Meanwhile, as Hiramatsu's supporters drift towards the Imperial Palace in hot air balloons, Shizuma manages to climb aboard one, and Fujita brings down Moriya's balloon with an arrow. Shuragami forces Moriya to confess that Hiramatsu is waiting on a ship offshore for his men to return with the Emperor.
