Seeing Naofumi protect Melty, the attacking knights accuse him of taking her hostage, but are repelled. Naofumi finds the pendant on a guard for the Church of Three Heroes, which hates the Shield. At the Royal Palace, wizards edit the recording of Naofumi "kidnapping" Melty, making him a fugitive. Planning to protect Melty to fix their situation, Naofumi's party hike the mountains to reach nearby Siltvelt. At night, a loose rock alerts nearby guards, and the other three Heroes. As Melty explains the situation, Malty orders they ignore her, claiming Naofumi has a brainwashing shield, despite lack of evidence; the Heroes fall for this...
