The twins attempt to save Keyleth, but a healing elixir has no effect. Scanlan deduces that the spinning black orb is blocking all nearby magic, including Pike's astral projection. The party leave the ziggurat, dragging Delilah behind them. Grog retrieves Sylas's sword, which seems to whisper to him. Back in the refining room, Vax and Scanlan heal Keyleth the same way she healed Cassandra. Percy is fully taken over by the smoke demon Orthax, who reveals that he gave Percy the idea for the pepperbox, and that he was feasting on the souls of those Percy killed with it...
