He awakens one morning to discover that he is surrounded by an infinite number of seemingly identical rooms behind every door, window, and wall. It transpires that the rooms bear slight variations, each corresponding to a parallel universe determined by the choices he could have (and has) made throughout the series. Overwhelmed by loneliness, the protagonist collapses. Once again, time does not rewind.
