The trio has an audience with King Thomas and Princess Charlotte. Thomas asks for help picking which of Charlotte's suitors to marry, the heroic knight Gomes or the minstrel and Charlotte's childhood friend Otto. Sensei calls him a fool to leave this decision to strangers. That night, as Tama and Annette argue about who can sleep next to Sensei, he leaves the room and meets Charlotte.
