Episode Description:
During the first phase, a number of participants drop out from fatigue after running for at least forty kilometers. Leorio almost gives up until he is encouraged by Gon, who waited for him. Killua, another rookie examinee, is introduced and he is curious about Gon when he discovers that they are the same age. Kurapika and Leorio run together and talk about their reasons for becoming Hunters. Kurapika wants to kill the Phantom Troupe, the group who massacred his clan for their precious scarlet eyes, which manifest when the Kurta experience intense emotion. Leorio aims to be a Hunter for money, but it is for altruistic reasons, as his childhood friend died of an illness because they didn't have the funds to save him. Leorio wishes to be a doctor so he can give his patients free treatment. Finally, the participants reach the end of the tunnel they were running in and surface in the Numere Wetlands, also known as Swindlers' Swamp...
