American Dad! American Dad! is an American animated television series created by Seth MacFarlane, developed alongside Mike Barker and Matt Weitzman. The series is produced by Fuzzy Door Productions (originally in association with Underdog Productions) and was initially produced for 20th Century Fox Television. It premiered in the United States on Fox on February 6, 2005, immediately following Super Bowl XXXIX, with its regular broadcast run beginning on May 1, 2005, after the season premiere of Family Guy. In 2014, the series moved from Fox to TBS, where it continues to air new episodes. The show centers on the life of Stan Smith, a conservative CIA agent, and his eccentric household, which includes his wife Francine, their children Hayley and Steve, a goldfish with the brain of a German ski jumper, and an alien named Roger. While sharing a creator with Family Guy, American Dad! generally avoids cutaway gags, instead emphasizing character-driven storytelling, situational humor, and absurdist non sequiturs.
